Science and Spirituality are the two dominant forces involving deep intellectual, philosophical and psychological approaches for the well-being of mankind. However, modern education with an over emphasized importance and advocacy towards the cultivation of science and technology without a spiritual dimension has caused an imbalance in the self, the society, the nation and the world. Hence, there appears a need to increase the awareness towards the synthesis of science and spirituality to broaden intellectual perspectives, and thereby harmonize the modern culture.
In the 3rd All India Students’ Conference on Science and Spiritual Quest (AISSQ-2007) being organized at Tirupati, India during 22-23 December 2007, about 1400 leading scientific and spiritual thinkers, including about 750 UG and PG students, from more than 100 leading academic institutions like IITs, NITs, IISc, AIIMS, IIMs, etc. and R&D institutions like BARC, ISRO, DRDO, etc. from India and a few top universities like MIT, Stanford, Oxford, etc, from abroad will come on a common platform to outline their vision for a harmonious society through the synthesis of science and spirituality. Prof. Roger Kornberg, Nobel Laureate 2006 (Chemistry) will deliver the keynote lecture and he will also interact with the participants in an interactive session on: Need for the Synthesis of Science and Spirituality. The conference is blessed with many eminent personalities whose thoughts and ideals have influenced the society. |
